So I’m a big fan of the Hashtag Series and I had to give a chance to #SWAG. Cambria Hebert does not disappoint, as always! I love these type of I love to hate you stories where the main characters go from hating each other to combusting into a scorching attraction ending up in sweet sweet love.
Who are the characters?
Josephine “Joey” Gamble
Daughter of business tycoon Ron Gamble. She is strong willed and despite her upbringing she earned a place in a man’s sport. She is better than most and is bullied by her peers because of it.
The boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Lorhaven has a reputation on the streets and is just starting to make his name in the indie world of racing. He only cares for his brother never showing his true self to anybody else. He lets his reputation speak for itself so everybody else can believe what they want.
I absolutely loved loved loved Joey and Lorhaven’s story. It has a Pride and Prejudice feel to it. They both have made their minds so they “hate” each other. Joey thinks him an asshole and Lorhaven thinks her a daddy’s girl thriving because of her father’s money and connections. They both couldn’t be more wrong.
It all starts with an interview and some steamy pictures for a magazine article. Obviously sparks fly despite their dislike for one another. The heart wants what it wants! Who knew they could be so good together? They make each other stronger and they find themselves letting their guards down. This allows Joey to be herself and Lorhaven to let himself be seen for what he is and the result is beautiful!
Warning! This story contains:
- A rough around the edges, sexy, sweet and loving alpha jerk. He’s only nice to those few he lets in.
- A kick ass woman ready to prove her worth. She just wants respect and appreciation.
- It may also come with the biggest book hangover in the history of book hangovers.
I wasn’t able to put this book down until I passed out from sleep late late late at night and it was the first thing I read as soon as I woke up 3 hours later XD
Unlike previous books, such as the Hashtag series, #SWAG came slowly to an end. No big drama. No cliffhanger. It felt very real and personal. Many of us have fallen in love and have gotten to marry our significant other without big drama, just real love, happiness and eagerness to be together… YES, I hugged my kindle as I finished reading this book. Be prepared to go through an array of emotions. This book touches on so many topics, some more serious than others. By the end of the book Joey has a very touching conversation with her father and yes I cried, I ugly cried because Cambria’s words got me in the feels :’)
I love a book that can make me laugh, cry, fall in love and just simply make me feel like a better person by having read it.
A+++ to Cambria for another book success. Seriously, I don’t know how you get so many quality books out at the rate that you do with so many swoon worthy characters. It is beyond me!
We give #SWAG 5 “Jasie” (you’ll get it once you read the book) stars!
“To me owning a woman was a fancy way of retaining her. I didn’t want to retain anyone. I wanted to be chosen. Day after day. Night after night. That was real love, freedom to choose and for her to make the choice for me every single day.” ~Lorhaven
~See!! #Swoon 🙂 Love is a decision we make every single day and it is beautiful when someone decides to love us the same way. To make the same decision~
These drivers got #swag…
Racing is in her DNA.
Right alongside money and power.
When you’re the daughter of one of the most powerful men in the country,
you have to work harder for success.
Joey Gamble’s a girl on a male-dominated track.
With a daddy who can buy whatever she wants.
But she doesn’t want anything… except to EARN her reputation.
Racing is his passion.
Trouble follows him everywhere. Some even say he invites it.
When you’re nipping at the taillights of the best driver in the new NRR,
you have to fight and claw for each and every success.
It’s never been easy for Lorhaven.
That’s why he doesn’t play by the rules.
He’s a man with a serious chip on his shoulder against the pro racing circuit.
We at GearShark want to know what’s up with that.
We’ve also been hearing rumblings…
of a pro who wants to go indie.
We’ve invited racing royalty and the driver from the wrong side of the tracks to sit down and talk to us about a possible crossover.
We expected sparks to fly when Joey and Lorhaven crossed paths.
Will those sparks ignite into a full-on inferno?
